Go Girls

by Justin Hall

Community

Recently announced: Go-Girls! - woman to woman English-language instruction and cultural exchange in Japan. This service originates from the active mind of Caroline Pover, the author of Being a Broad in Japan. Dedicated teachers or foreign women with free time can meet female Japanese students interested in frank talk and language learning without some of the occasional institutional or sexual/mating baggage. This could be a great way to encourage provocative cross-cultural conversation; the service launches in October and we'll be curious to see what community or relationships develop out of this.

Interesting concept. Seems like a good way for students and teachers (assuming English) to find each other. I guess the idea is to find serious students as opposed to men who want to meet foreign women...? Do the female teachers feel safer when the students are female as well?

Just wondering, I wonder if men also have similar thoughts. Wanting to find a teacher/student of the same sex?

ま、一般的にはそんなこと男は考えないってことでしょうが、でもいてもおかしくないし、そんな少数派のためにもネットが活躍できるわけでしょ。

うーん特に意味無いかな

Yes the idea is to find serious students, but it's also about women helping other women to achieve what they want with their lives. And female teachers do generally feel safer with female students.
